Bad news if one of the reasons you love your Samsung Galaxy is because of the removable battery – it looks like Samsung next smartphone will come with a sealed body.
The latest Samsung Galaxy S6 rumor suggests that the upcoming smartphone will come with a sealed body and a smaller battery. The rumor also claims the battery will not be user replaceable.
Samsung is one of the few smartphone makers that still allow their customers to swap out their handset’s battery.
While neither I – nor anyone else on the T3 online team – know anybody who carries around a second battery, judging by the reaction of the internet, it seems that we are in the minority… Of course, it could just be that there is a very vocal minority that see this as a critical feature.
Regardless of whether or not you see this as a bad thing, it does appear that the reason for removing the removable battery is because the Galaxy S6 will come will be the first Samsung smartphone to support wireless charging.
That particular rumor was thanks to a post on Samsung’s own website extolling the values of wireless charging. In fact, if that wasn't a big enough hint for you, the final sentence should leave us in no doubt that the S6 will come with wireless charging.
“With our upcoming Galaxy smartphones, users will be able to enter a new wireless world like never before.”
Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S6 at its Unpacked event at Mobile World Congress on March 1st.
